I'm so excited for our final celebration next Friday. Our wonderful students will share their websites and their reflective work. Looking forward to it!

We enjoyed learning from Kerry Tymchuk today during out 30 minute Skype call. It seems a speech writer has to be a little bit of an actor as he/she really needs to get into the character to who they are writing the speech for. It also seems like it would be a stressful job with the potential to be very rewarding. A tremendous thank you to Kerry for spending time encouraging our young minds today!
We enjoyed a wonderful opportunity today listening to the "Think Big" speaker at Port Huron High School. Josh LInkner is a great speaker with an outstanding message. So thankful for this experience.
Today we took a trip to downtown Port Huron to explore the radio station. Thank you Paul Miller! It was great to learn about the career path opportunities available at a radio station like WPHM. Once again, we learned about the amount of collaboration required to be successful at a job in radio.
Talking with Jamie DeLoreto was a great way to spend some time. We learned so much about a career in sports marketing, and many new Boston College fans were born. It's amazing to think about the coordination it would take for a whole community like Boston to plan for key support to be provided at the 21 mile mark of the Boston Marathon. Learning about some famous alumni and their stories was also inspirational - such as the red bandanna and the ice bucket challenge. It seems every time we learn about another ELA career I find a new career I believe I would have enjoyed!
I enjoyed watching groups of students work together to plan and create a digital newsletter detailing what they have learned about some possible ELA careers. I look forward to continual reflections and talking with the Boston College Sports Marketing Director next week!
I've never really thought about all of the components of game design, but after our conversation with Brent Thomas today, I have found a new career interest! Not only does he enjoy an outstanding work environment, but the collaboration with co-workers to tell a story would be a fun job I would look forward to going to everyday!
I enjoyed a relaxing spring break in Florida! Although I missed working with the students, I had a fantastic time with my family. I hope everyone enjoyed their time off as well!!
We enjoyed talking with Jessie and Don today. What a great employment atmosphere they have at work. Thanks for giving our students a peek into your world!
What amazing talent we have in our state! We had the opportunity to spend the morning with Michigan author Kelly DiPucchio and many young authors from St. Clair County at our Young Author's Conference. Stay tuned for the trailer/documentary of this event that is being created by students from our 7th grade ELA Middle School Academic Academy.
